Orphan Systems Blog

According to a story on WRAL today, February 1, 2010, the IT recovery has begun. There are 2 main points to this article and they are very timely.

Read the WRAL Story ...

The two main point are the recovery is under way and information technology gives companies a competitive advantage. I have seen several instances where a good programmer and access to the correct information is able to help a company excel. One of our contract developers helped a company stream line access to data in real time.

The client had a denormalized reporting database and a group responsible for extracting client information for delivery to the clients customers. Unfortunately the entire process was manual and very time consuming, to the tune of 2-4 weeks to generate special request datasets.

Our contractor built a dynamic query system on top of the existing database that was easy enough for project management staff to extract customer data without interruption of data manager normal duties. This resulted in most customers requests being answered in 20-40 minutes compared to 2-4 weeks prior to the deployment of the online query system.

Bringing in and retaining top notch staff, that understands the needs in a Clinical Environment allow you to leverage your I.T. investment and on hand data so that you too can provide top notch service. Is your staff complete and advancing your goals or at minimum levels and just keeping your systems alive?
